Blitz on Friday, Bughouse on Saturday

Some kids inevitably think that playing six 2-3 hour games is simply not enough chess for a weekend. Others like to relax and socialize with their chess friends. A few come on Friday night just to warm up for an important weekend. No matter what the reason, about 30 to 40 players each year join the blitz and bughouse side events at the CalChess Scholastics.

Blitz tournament on Friday night 6:00-8:30

1. three sections K-3, 4-6 and 7-12
2. late registration 5:00-5:30, $15 entry
   
3. plan for 5 rounds (10 games)
   
4. trophies to top 3 in each section, top in each grade and team trophies
   

Bughouse tournament on Saturday night at 7:45-9:45

1. three sections K-3, 4-6 and 7-12
2. late registration 6:15-7:15, $15 entry, $25 per team
   
3. plan for 4 rounds (8 games)
   
4. trophies to top 3 teams in each section (two trophies per team)
   

I am your humble TD for both of these side events. The entries are light this year. Hopefully some of the readers of this blog will decide to come on down at the last minute. We had fun last year, so come and join the action! Be there!
