Steven Zierk and I arrived early on Saturday morning in the Lone Star State (
see state flag above) for the
2008 US Open. By winning the K-12 section at the
CalChess Scholastics, Steven qualified to play in the
Denker Tournament for High School Champions. The first round of both tournaments is scheduled for 7pm Central time tonight. Note: I am playing in the traditional 9-day schedule of the US Open while many of the Denker players entered the 6-day schedule in order to play both events.
